Illustrator: More on the Line Tool(s)
There is much more to the line tool than we first discussed:
- Line Segment Tool
- Arc Tool
- Spiral Tool
- Rectangular Grid Tool
- Polar Grid Tool
Each of these tools behaves differently when various keys are pressed:
Your task is to prove that you understand how to utilize these various line tools.
My suggestion do one of the following:
Regardless of which approach you take to learning the tools, you must create a file for each of the tools to demonstrate your exploration and learning.
Assuming you will read the article, follow along and try things as you read the article. Be sure to try the various suggestions they give and to try to recreate most of the examples. The odd time, they key they tell you doesn't work. If this happens try the command key. The article assumes you are using a PC.

- Download and read the following short article or read on line (see below). I love the article as it is precise and often shows a few tips that aren't on the adobe site or mentioned in videos.
- Watch Youtube videos on each of the tools
- Look at adobe documents.
